Unit 3
Unit 3
Unit 3 is one of the largest and most vibrant residential communities at the University of California, Berkeley, offering students an immersive college living experience in the heart of campus. Located just steps away from academic buildings, libraries, dining facilities, and student resources, Unit 3 provides a convenient and engaging environment for students to live, learn, and connect with their peers. During the program, students will reside in double-occupancy rooms and have access to a variety of shared community spaces, including lounges, study areas, outdoor courtyards, and recreational facilities. These spaces encourage collaboration, friendship, and a strong sense of community while allowing students to experience the dynamic energy of student life at UC Berkeley. With its central location and active residential atmosphere, Unit 3 serves as an ideal home base for students participating in a rigorous and enriching summer program.

Tuition & Financial Aid
$5,650 for the 2-week program
$8,350 for the 3-week program
$5,950 for the AIRES Junior Program
The fee includes on-campus housing, meals, staffing and supervision, insurance, program materials, and most program-sponsored activities, such as field trips, social events, and the closing ceremony.
Limited financial aid is available for qualified students. Financial aid applications should be submitted with or shortly after the main application.
Students should also budget for personal expenses such as souvenirs, and small academic costs like printing.
Eligibility
AIRES at UC Berkeley is open to rising Grade 10–12 students from around the world. While priority will be given to rising Grade 11 and 12 students, rising Grade 10 applicants may also be considered if they demonstrate strong academic performance, rigorous coursework, and meaningful extracurricular involvement.
For the AIRES Junior Program at UC Berkeley, eligibility is open to rising Grade 7 to 9 students.
